Hi y'all! My name is Katie Barbee (or Miss Barbee, as you will all get to know me!). I'm a first-year kindergarten teacher at Goodman-Pickens Elementary School in Goodman, Mississippi, and I am SO excited to kick off my teaching career in the Eagles' Nest at GPE. I graduated in 2013 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I am a newly inducted corps member of Teach For America. In my free time, I enjoy swimming and running, watching almost any sport, painting, arts and crafts, praising my Savior, coming up with new and exciting ideas for my classroom, and writing! I am really looking forward to keeping up with this blog as a way to stay connected with my family and friends, and to keep everyone up to date on the latest happenings in the "kindergarten garden"!
Miss Barbee's classroom motto is "Hand in Hand, Together We Can!" My students are expected to set
BIG goals for themselves, and I believe that with teamwork and 100% effort from each person, every one of their potentials is limitless. It's going to be a fantastic school year filled with lots of exciting learning, so check back frequently to see our latest accomplishments!
